WILPF’s Position on the Violence in Egypt

August 23, 2013

During the last few weeks in Egypt, unprecedented level of violence against women has been reported by activists. Many view this as  an attempt to push women away from participation in social and political life. Women were not alone to face repression where hundreds of civilians were reportedly detained and killed in the recent turmoil.

It is in this context that WILPF condemns all forms of violence against civilians and reassures its support to peaceful means of  transition to democratic states.
