The Swedish Foreign Minister, Margot Wallström’s, decision in 2015 on not prolong Sweden’s military cooperation deal with Saudi Arabia sparked a heated discussion about foreign policy, showing that the political choices of Western countries might either promote human rights (and the rights of women in particular) or facilitate armed conflicts (and the spread of gender-based violence).
