Joint UPR submission: Impact of Canadian Mining Companies. Canada’s Extraterritorial Obligations

December 22, 2017

This joint report submitted for the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) focuses on Canada’s failure to regulate the extraterritorial activities of Canadian companies effectively. It highlights the impact of Canadian mining companies on human rights, particularly women’s and indigenous peoples’ rights, in other countries. These are concerns that our organisations brought to the attention of the CEDAW Committee in 2016. The UPR Working Group will review Canada at its April/May 2018 session.
