The history of WILPF India
WILPF India core group was established on 7 January 2001, at Nagpur in the presence of Gandhi peace award winner Edith Ballantyne, and former WILPF International President Dr Krishna Ahooja Patel. Since then members have been working at local and national levels engaged in organising workshops, symposiums, seminars and presenting papers. WILPF India aims to create awareness among students and women about national and international WILPF programme issues, with its Headquarters in Gujarat Vidyapeeth (a deemed University set up father of the nation MK Gandhi , in 1920).
WILPF India today
WILPF India has three active branches:
- Gujarat Branch (headquarters)
- Maharashtra Branch
- Delhi Branch
WILPF India focuses on implementing the overall vision of international WILPF and currently working on implementing the UNSRC 1325 along with mobilising support for the upcoming centenary celebrations of WILPF in 2015.
