WILPF Side-event on experiences and roles of Syrian women
WILPF is holding a side-event to the 32nd session of the Human Rights Council entitled “Syria, from a peaceful revolution to a bloody conflict: Women’s experiences and roles“.
WILPF and Syrian women activists from ten different partner organisations, and with the support of Kvinna till Kvinna, have developed a report for the Universal Periodic Review of Syria that allocates specific focus on the distinct impact of the conflict on Syrian women and the violations committed against them.
The side-event organised by WILPF seeks to address and analyse the following questions:
How does the dire humanitarian situation in Syria impact woman differently? What are the main factors behind the influx of refugees and IDPs, and what effect do these have on Syrian women? What are the reasons behind the limited and marginalized participation of women in the peace process? What are the challenges and obstacles do women groups and women human rights defenders face, and how can the international community protect and support them?
Date: June 15th, 2016
Location: Palais des Nations, Room IX
Time: 17:00 – 18:00
Come and attend our side-event to hear the Syrian women experts analyze the issues addressed in the report from a gendered perspective!
