A FEMINIST APPROACH TO THE BINDING TREATY
WILPF is organising a side event with partner NGOs, in parallel to the third session of the UN intergovernmental working group in charge of negotiating a new binding instrument on corporations and human rights, that will take place from 23 to 27 October 2017 in Geneva.
This event will be the occasion to reiterate why gender is key to corporate accountability. The adverse human rights and environmental impacts of corporate activities are not gender neutral; they may cause gender-specific harms and discrimination or exacerbate pre-existing gender inequalities within a community. Despite women being often disproportionately impacted by corporate activities, they continue to lead struggles for rights and justice: with resilience, courage and inspiration.
Join us in a lively feminist exchange, as we take on the big question:
“How can multiple and intersecting forms of discrimination be effectively addressed in order to ensure that the new binding instrument is useful and usable by all?”
23 October 2017 from 1pm to 3pm.
Room XXIII, Palais des Nations, Geneva.

The event will also be live streamed on WILPF’s Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/wilpf/
