there are a few questions to answer when considering using JAPA:
1. do you require tax-deductible status for your donation? If you do not
require that status, it is easiest to send money directly to the WILPF US
national office.
2. JAPA is a sister organization to both US WILPF and International WILPF -
therefore donations need to be marked specifically towards one portion of
our organization or another.
3. JAPA is not going to pay US WILPF dues in a coalition. Best to simply
write "WILPF US - Middle East Committee" on the memo line when making a
donation through JAPA.
4. By marking your donation in the largest possible category, you allow the
organization to follow a process for using it's budget. In the case of a
committee, the group needs to meet either via conference call or email to
make an expenditure decision. Clearly, the ME Committee leadership team has
indicated a desire to continue membership in the Coalition to End the
Occupation. I'm saying this for the broader purpose of allowing all people
involved in an activity to make budgetary decisions, whether or not they can
afford to give additional donations to carry out the work.

I'm glad a solution has been found to this problem, and have some questions
related to the coalition:
1. Has the committee designated official WILPF US representatives for the
annual national convention next weekend in DC?
2. Has outreach been done to find a person willing to participate in
coalition work (setting policy and advocacy priorities) on an ongoing basis
on behalf of WILPF and report back to the committee on a regular basis?
3. Has anyone reached out to the Triangle Branch, which is listed as a
member of the coalition? Perhaps they have someone actively involved in the
coalition's governance work and we can consolidate our efforts? Perhaps we
can use them and the Philadelphia branch (and others) to write about best
practices for doing this work at the branch level? Their contact info on the
coalition website is:
