[WCUSP] Support the Annapolis meeting

I agree with Katharina, Libby, Yvonne, and Felicity..but
We have to be aware of the different positions and Brit Tzedek
is probably the biggest pro-peace Jewish American organization
at this point. It is probably also the closest to WILPF in terms of US Policy.
(except for Jewish Voices for Peace that is still very small.)
Barbara states in the letter that we all supported that we would like to be a
consulting party to the State department because of our long history in the
Middle East...and knowledge of the issue. It is hard to be a consultant party
if we do not support the conference.
The point is not about supporting or not supporting if it is happening,
but what are they going to talk about! we need to set up a peace agenda.
The peace movement should really have their own meeting, it is time
to move forward the peace table.
Because the situation is so dire at this time for the Palestinians and as
Libby said the republican party is hard up to have some positive legacy
it seems that possibly some movement could happen at least in setting an
agenda that is slightly more pro Palestinian, specially if we take the
occasion to educate and organize then my position would tend to be
more towards critical support. Then we could call our congress people
and demand a just resolution and the inclusion of Hamas.
As you may know even now some part of Israel/US is supporting covertly
Hamas to divide Palestinian society, even so they are starving Gaza ad
putting it in a state of siege. The present government needs the war.
As Yvonne said it would be a good occasion to support events around the
Global Nakba, all around the world and use this and the conference to
educate around the issue and the UN resolutions.
I really think we need an International Peace Conference with the EU
Africa and Asia, as the US is hardly an un-bias broker in the area.
The Oslo accord brought the CIA into Gaza as security arrangement.
This is no way to bring peace and justice. It must rise from the ground
and support the people need for food and development.
