 Dear International Board members,

As you know, next week talks on peace in the Middle East will be held in
Annapolis, Maryland in the US. While we are quite sceptical about what can
emerge from these talks, it is important that WILPF takes the opportunity to
reiterate our positions and clear demands that we believe is the basis for a
just and lasting peace. The world community has a stake in finding a speedy
resolution based in the UN resolutions.

Attached you will find a statement worked on by the International Middle
East Committee, building on the Berlin statament and the draft resolution
from Congress.

Please feel free to forward this to all WILPF members in your sections,
other NGOs and your governments, especially if they are part of the EU and
Quartet, (made up of USA, Russia, EU and the UN). The Geneva office is
sending to various foreign ministers, Ambassadors from the EU and from the
countries that have been invited which are Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia,
Lebanon, Qatar, Syria and of course Israel and the PLO representatives in NY
and Geneva.

best wishes

Kerstin
