A few months ago we met. I was the idealistic activist giddy with joy at the attention Jimmy Carter's book was receiving. You were a fellow citizen who agreed with me - and Carter - that Americans need to hear the truth about Israel and Palestine. Together, we kept his message going.

Guess what - we have a new ally. New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof has written an important piece, Talking with Israel (3/18). He writes: 

  "American politicians have learned to muzzle themselves."
  "American politicians just don't get it."
  "Hard-line Israeli policies have profoundly harmed that country's long-term security."
  " security for Israel will emerge only from a peace agreement"
  "let's be better friendsand stop biting our tongues."

Kristof is not as clear as Carter is about what needs to happen to achieve peace in Israel/Palestine. But he presents a more difficult target for the Israel Lobby to defame. Let's thank good ole' Nick, and support his current effort : pressuring Barak Obama, John Edwards, Hillary Clinton and the rest to stand up for peace, even when it means standing up to the Israel Lobby.

Won't you stand with Kristof today?
