In October 2000 the United Nations Security Council
passed Resolution 1325 on women, Peace and security.
This is the first resolution passed by the United
Nations Security council to recognize the women's
contributions to peace and security. It asks for
member states and others to include women and civilian
groups in the peace process and conflict resolution.
