YOUR Chance to Make Mideast Peace a Central Issue for '08
Everyday Americans now have the chance to ask the 2008
presidential candidates direct questions in the upcoming CNN/YouTube
Debates. This is a great opportunity to make sure that the candidates speak
out publically, at a nationally televised debate, about Middle East peace!
The presidential hopefuls will take and answer -- live on
CNN -- the questions YOU submit by video via YouTube. The first debate will
take place with the Democratic candidates in South Carolina on July 23. (The
Republican debate will take place in Florida on September 17.)
Create YOUR Video Question!
AAI is asking Arab Americans of all background to create
their own video asking the candidates what they would do as president to
help ensure peace and security for Palestine, Lebanon, Iraq, and the Middle
East region as a whole. If your question is selected, you could be flown to
South Carolina to watch the live, televised debate.
The submission deadline for the Democratic debate is
Sunday, July 22, but the earlier you submit your question, the better the
chances are that CNN will select it to read at the debate.
Click here for some tips for creating your video question.

Once you've submitted your video, send us the link to your
question by emailing it to us at aaimedia at aaiusa.org!
Some suggested questions for the candidates:
a.. As president, what will you do to promote
negotiations between Israelis and Palestinians to achieve peace and security
for Israel and a secure and contiguous state of Palestine?
b.. The U.S.'s lack of active engagement in the Middle
East has diminished our leadership role within the international community,
making America less safe. As president, what will you do to restore our
credibility on the world stage and enact a comprehensive solution for peace
in the region?
c.. One of the Iraq Study Group recommendations is that
the U.S. should launch a new round of Middle East diplomacy efforts,
including a revived effort to solve the Israeli-Palestinian dispute. What
will you do to help Israelis and Palestinians achieve peace and security?
d.. Lebanon is an ally of the U.S. in the Middle East,
but we did little to assist the nation as it was assailed by bombings and
political crises in 2006 and 2007. What will you do to help Lebanon, and in
turn, help stabilize the surrounding Middle East region?
