Letters to the Editor Re: "A glimpse of their muse," article, Jan. 7: This hyped-up "educational" trend of encouraging (which is not exactly teaching) students to write about their troubles by penning poetry and long entries in journals and reading them aloud to classmates and in public offers them sensory and emotional satisfaction, I'm sure. But is this the function of a good teacher?
