[WCUSP] Amazon's Negative Review of Carter's book

Look, I don't disagree with the sentiment behind this action.

I just want to point out that it is a bad use of email advocacy. Sending
chain letters doesn't accomplish anything. Such sentiments should use a
petition site to gather signatures - it's the only way to ensure that
each signature is counted once. And if you feel compelled to write an
individual email to Amazon, then by all means, write an email. Just
please don't forward chain letters.

Here are two articles that further explain what I mean:

In related news, my sister had to search a lot of bookstores to buy me
Carter's book for Hanukah (it was part of my best Hanukah present ever;
she also gave me a framed poster that says "Where There Is Oppression,
May There Thrive Resistance" and "L'chaim Intifada!"). It was sold out
around Hanukah. But now, it's one of the books you can buy at the local
Costco, so I'm excited about the idea that lots more people are able to
read it.

WILPF LA co-sponsored a speaker today with Women in Black, LA. The
speaker was Hedy Epstein, a member of WILPF St. Louis, a Holocaust
survivor, founder of WIB St. Louis, and someone who has been to
Palestine three times. I'll try to write more about this on the WILPF blog.

best,
C.J.
