One of the members of the Maryland Arab American Committee recently sent the
note below - I'm passing his good idea on to you.

As he says, please be sure the message is primarily congratulatory,  then
add in a positive way how you feel about Carter speaking for you as a
Democrat on the issue of Palestine and your hopes for what the party, under
her speakership, will do.
If you hold a position on your local party committee / as a precinct
delegate be sure to mention that too.

Recently Speaker-elect Nancy Pelosi suggested that Jimmy Carter does not
speak for the Democratic Party on the subject of Palestine.  I just wrote to
her and let her know that he does indeed speak for me, a lifelong Democrat.
I let her know that it is my hope the Party will work to alleviate the
poverty and oppression of the Palestinian people.
