WILPF Israel blessing sign on from WILPF. In peace

28 December 2007
Sir,
Nura Jaber el Hashlamon of Hebron, mother of six, was
arrested on 17
September 2006 by the Israeli occupation forces.
She has been detained without charges or trial at the
Detention Centres
of Etzion and Ashkelon. After having submitted to
three tough and
difficult interrogations, she was transferred to
Hasharon Prison (Tel
Mond) and placed in administrative detention for six
months.
Since the moment of her arrest the Israeli authorities
have constantly
prolonged her administrative detention.
On 12 December 2007, Nur Jaber el Hashlamon began a
hunger strike,
demanding to be freed immediately and placing her life
in danger.
The husband of Nura, Muhamed Sami el Hashlamon is also
in
administrative
detention. He has been imprisoned since 2005 in the
Negev Prison
(Ketziot) and, as in the administrative detention of
Nura, his has
constantly been prolonged by the Israeli authorities.
Mr. Prime Minister, Nura's administrative detention
and that of her
husband represent an attack on the human rights of an
entire family.
The image which is thus given by the State of Israel
is not that of a
democracy but that of an occupying State which does
not respect
international law. In this crucial period where the
world is looking
in
the direction of Palestine, Women in Black (Vienna),
together with
other
Women in Black groups and others opposing the Israeli
occupation, are
sending your Government their request to free Nura
Jaber el Hashlamon
immediately in order to permit her to take care of her
six children who
have not seen her since more than one year.
Yours faithfully,
