Thank you Kate so much for this information.
I write you all from the Jaffa Gate in the old city of Jerusalem.
We arrived esterday after an 8 hr flight and we were quite jet lag and
tired.
We just walk in the old city were we are staying in a cheap hostel.
Today we went to Ramalah to met a young man who had be deported
very brutally from Detroit without being able to go back to his appartment
and take any of his belongings. He had been six years in the US and has a
wife and family but as he went to the emigration office and was immediately
deported to Palestine without saying any goodbye and he was with a group of
about six others people.
Then we went to a lecture of Arts and Dialogue in the Ambassador
Hotel in organized
*Israel-Palestine Center for Research and Information* -
*IPCRI*<http://www.ipcri.org/index1.html>
www.ipcri.org
The speaker never showed up to the lecture so Alan was asked to
speak and I was also able to speak about our campaign.
Gershom Baskin told me that they are doing a June 5 iniative for a two
state solution because if you want peace you need to speak about Justice
but you also need to speak about peace and he feel that the US Campaign
to End the occupation speak about Justice but does not say anything about
Justice so they are doing their own June 5th commemoration that will happen
in many villages in Israel as film festival and others please check their
web site
and statement.
There I met a man who is starting a peace center in Jerusalem on the East
and
West side line, he is starting very simply and hope to be expanding.
Walking down the street we met a couple young English activist who were here
to start the Olive Tree Arts Centre
http://otartscentre.googlepages.com
You can see that a lot of things are going on and you learn about it just
walking down
the street.
I spoke with Aliyah and learn that there is a conference going on right now
in B'ilin
on the wall and I am planning to go tomorrow. There will be a demonstration
with
Internationals on Friday. It is fairly violent as the Israeli police in not
kind or compassionate
towards the one who dare to demonstrate against this "abomination"
Every time I look at the ugly wall I see the clinic and shools that could
have been
built instead, what a human blight,,,
Later tonight I am meeting with Deborah Bros who is a young american Jew
who is building a clinic for the Bedouin people the poorest of all. She is
about
to tour the US East and West coast.
By the end of the week I will meet with Aliyah and a WILPF meeting.
There are many workers for peace beating the ancient stones pavements of the
city of Palestine and Israel and we share it with the many orthodox Jews and
Evangelists that we meet on the road and despite our different political
agenda
we meet, exchange words and addresses, you will be amazed to know that there
is a nowhere land, a virtual planete where we all in our heart we all seek
to further
the survival our human specy and our spirit on this planete.
Much love from Jerusalem
Shalom, Salam and Salam Shalom
