VOICES FROM THE MIDDLE EAST (That You Don't Hear from the Corporate Media)
Speakers:
Najib Yateem, Current President of the Greater Philadelphia Chapter of the American-Arab Anti Discrimination Committee (ADC). He has also served as president of several Arab Student Organizations. He evacuated in recent weeks with his family from Lebanon, where over a thousand persons had been killed.
Taghreed Duaibes, Currently an intern in the WILPF national office, previously intern at WILPF' s U.N. office. She was a campaign coordinator for Gender and Human Rights at the Women's Studies Center in East Jerusalem and expects to continue her work for Human Rights issues upon returning to her country, Palestine.
Nachshon David Mahanymi is a Peace and Justice activist and co-founder of the Philadelphia Tikkun community. He is a graduate student of adult education at Widener. Nachshon David grew up in Haifa, Israel and served in the Israeli army (1988-91) before coming to Philadelphia in 1998. He recently returned from a three weeks trip to Israel.
Moderator will be Libby Frank, member national WILPF Campaign: Women Challenge U.S. Policy: Building Peace on Justice in the Middle East.
