The Crisis in Gaza

Our membership recently wrote and published a statement on the situation in Gaza. The US Section has adopted the statement.

We recognize that the issue of peace and justice in Palestine and Israel can be difficult to discuss in a manner that seems equitable to all. We welcome comments regarding the recent statement - please submit a comment to this blog post to join our discussion on the crisis in Gaza.

It might be helpful to refer to our national Middle East Campaign and to our international work for peace in the Middle East. WILPF has sections in Israel, Palestine, and Lebanon and our advocacy work in the United States is coordinated with those sections through our International Middle East Committee.

Feb 26 to 29 Ellen Barfield and Carol Urner of the DISARM! Dismantle the War Economy leadership team and Tzili Mor of AHR/CEDAW participated in delivery of Gaza post cards to COngress. I am trying to post a blog on the visit and want to share follow up with participating Branches, however I can't figure out how to post my blogs without the usual staff help. Any assistance welcomed. I also have info for Branches on delivery of Peace is Possible post cards to the HOuse re H.Res 146 on 1325 and violence against women. I want to send a second blog on significant interviews we had with staff of Dianne Feinstein (CA), Grace Moore (WI), Eddie Bernice Johnson (TX), Grace Napolitano (CA) and John Conyers(MI). We also laid the groundwork for additional visits in the future and got suggestions for further Branch actions. I'll post all of this and share more information with Branches as soon as I can figure out how to post my Blogs My email is carol.disarm@gmail.com

I don't think it is appropriate to make statement 4 until statement 3 is set in place and the basic tenets of the Geneva Accord are put in place and enforceable with a truly international team to include the global East, South and ALL developing countries of the world. Not just the West and North. I am not anonymous. You can reach me, Lynn Segal @ 303-447-3216 Boulder, CO. Life's too short for anonymity.
