RAGING AND ROARING FOR PEACE
An Activist’s Songbook

“Raging and Roaring with the Santa Cruz WILPF Raging Grannies” is a compilation of 39 witty and hilarious parodies written to the tunes of well-known songs, for and by the gaggle of grandmothers who make up the Raging Grannies of Santa Cruz WILPF.
Like all the Raging Granny gaggles around the nation, these feisty women of a certain age, dressed in wildly-flowered bonnets, and aprons, are seething with indignation at the Bush Administration and all its deeds to enrich the rich and tread on the poor, its “Endless Wars,” its attacks on our environment, its policies which make the United States a disgrace around the world--and they have tuneful ways to express these feelings in a way that makes their audiences roar with laughter and nod their heads in understanding.
Reaching Critical WIll E-News Advisory September 20 2007
Dear Reaching Critical Will friends and advisors,
Both the Conference on Disarmament and the CTBT Entry Into Force Conference concluded in September, while the General Assembly has just opened its 62nd session. As the General Assembly begins its work, the challenges and issues are clearly laid out. WILPF believes that through confidence-building measures, the strengthening of verification systems and regimes, and strict adherence to international law, nuclear disarmament is possible. We do not have to reinvent the wheel—we just have to support, use, and reinforce the existing viable and effective tools we have already created through diplomacy and multilateralism. It is imperative that the citizens of the world continue monitoring, questioning, and pressuring their governments to support the strengthening of international treaties such as the CTBT and fora such as the CD, with faith that international law will prevail over the absurdity of nuclear militarism.
Best wishes,
Ray Acheson, Project Associate
Anti War Protest Targets Costa - Day 1
The Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF) protested at Democratic Congressman Jim Costa’s office today. They were protesting against Costa’s ongoing support of the war and occupation in Iraq. This is the first of a series of demonstrations at the Congressman’s office this month, coordinated by several local anti war groups.
US Board Says Good-Bye To Mary Day Kent

After eight years, Mary Day Kent is leaving her position as Executive Director of US Section WILPF. Her first introduction to the members of WILPF was at the 1999 Triennial Congress in St. Louis. Ever since then, it has been quite a road trip. Managing 5,000 members is no easy task and Mary Day's handling of emails, phone calls, building emergencies, budget crunches and ever changing boards is a credit to her calm nature.

Those of you who have been with WILPF for a while may recall that the last time WILPF engaged in strategic planning was during the 1996-99 board term. This process culminated in a set of by-law changes reconfiguring the board and the campaign structure of our program.
This survey is just one of several means we are using to solicit ideas and insights from our members and allies.
Thank you in advance for your participation in this important process
