This Friday 13 March WILPF’s MENA Agenda 1325 project is bringing Syrian civil society activists to the 28th session of the Human Rights Council to discuss the state of civil society in their country.
Despite four years of ongoing conflict, civil society remains active in countering the political, economic, military, and humanitarian challenges in Syria. They accomplish this life saving work despite being actively targeted by the regime government, militias and extremist groups.
If you are in Geneva, we invite you to join us at the event and hear how Syrian civil society activists are continuing to work amidst increased violence. Learn what are their needs and join the discussion in how the international community help empower them in their work.
WILPF will also be sharing insight from women’s rights activists and members of grassroots organisations from Syria from the Strategies for Change conference in January 2015.
The event will take place Friday from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM in Room XXIV at Palais des Nations.
Come join us and participate in the discussion on how to strengthen civil society in Syria!
