The 30th U.S. Section Triennial Congress 2008 Join Amy Goodman, Fran Korten and a hundred other dangerous women Wednesday, June 25 - Sunday, June 29, 2008
Updated: 6/21/08 The time is NOW for WILPF to take its measure, to listen and learn from each other so we can shout out and stand up for the common good. Democracy requires us to serve in the interests of those who cannot speak, cannot stand up. Our 30th Triennial Congress provides a platform of all of us to form cohesive and effective voices in a time of greatest need.
The time is NOW. The place is the Heartland. Iowa is a microcosm of the local, national and the global issues that concern so many of us in WILPF. The Des Moines branch wants YOU to join US in educating and agitating in June (and the rest of year) for a better world, a more peaceful world, a world where women are respected, a world where children are sheltered, a world with no boundaries, no apathy, and no way but up. The time is NOW for you to come to Iowa to get things done. Talk only goes so far unless it's followed by action. Our action for this 30th Triennial is to put each of you at the center of WILPF's life. Each individual member is being called on to bring your ideas, gather up like-minded activists and join our transformative movement. Check out our wondeful video on YouTube! The Triennial offers workshops for educating and motivating our members, soapboxes (yes, actual boxes) for individual orations in a commons area outdoors, gathering *circles for common interest sharing, geographic circles for regional exchanges, cultural activities (world renown opera performance for one), YOUTUBE adventures (wear black, it makes you look thinner), Board presentation and Q&A (strategic planning), and we are working on getting authors and book signings as well as a speaker who is a leader in the practicing of radical democracy.
The Congress planning committee is moving and grooving. . . working to make this Congress a take-home-and-try-it buffet of ideas, events and actions in sisterhood! Peter Drucker has said, "The best way to predict the future is to create it. " Let's do it together. Come and join us and see results! You have your chance at our 30th Triennial Congress through purchasing a space in our Tribute Book. Below you will find links to open the price sheets for both businesses/organizations and members/branches, the space purchase form and a template letter as a guide for asking other women in a written format (4 attachments). We are planning to have one night's event devoted to honoring these women and many more. The deadline for purchasing space in the Tribute Book is May 10, 2008.
